Dar Al-Handasah (Shair and Partners) is one of the largest engineering and design practices in the world. With our numerous offices and worldwide operation, our multi-disciplinary expertise comprised deep involvement in the planning, design and implementation of development projects in the Middle East, Africa and Asia since 1956.

Dar has at various occasions undertaken important projects in Syria, latest was the design and construction supervision of the Four Seasons Damascus Hotel which was completed in 2005. We are now working on the design of a state-of-the-art medical complex in the Yafour suburb of Damascus.

In our projects, we try to bring out the character of the host country through architecture and building materials. We also strongly believe that a project’s success can be substantially enhanced by the degree of involvement of the local building industry service providers.

Therefore, we, at Dar Al-Handasah, fully support the Buna initiative which makes it easier for us as international designers to be more readily aware of the local Syrian materials and construction market.

Dar does support Buna initiative in their approach for systematic and comprehensive referencing of all building materials, products, systems and services that are available in the local Syrian construction market. This will surely facilitate their adoption by consultants in projects in Syria and elsewhere, while ensuring in this context to abide by international practice of testing and quality control procedures.

This initiative, will allow easy access to the local Syrian market by all international consultants working in Syria and in the region, benefiting from good quality products and competitive prices.
